Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has successfully secured $478,000 in funding for Schoharie County to initiate designs for a bridge replacement project. The announcement was made as part of this year's appropriations process.

Stefanik expressed her pride in the achievement, stating, "I am proud to announce that I secured $478,000 to go towards designs to replace a 100-year-old bridge in Schoharie County in this year’s appropriations process. These designs are critical to the replacement of this critical infrastructure that is a key transportation link for the local economy, emergency services, and school districts."

Schoharie County Board of Supervisors Chairman, Bill Federice, expressed gratitude for Stefanik's efforts, highlighting the importance of the funding for the design and engineering of the Bridge Street Bridge. Federice emphasized the critical nature of the project, stating, "This will be the first step needed in the process of replacing the 100-year-old bridge which is quickly approaching the end of life and will need to be closed if a replacement is not completed in the near future."

Assemblyman Chris Tague also commended Stefanik's work and the impact it will have on Schoharie County. Tague expressed his gratitude, saying, "I'm so grateful for the work of Congresswoman Stefanik and of all the advocates who took to Washington to make their needs known. Because of their work, Schoharie County will benefit from a grant that will enable significant repairs to be done at the Bridge Street Bridge. On behalf of the residents of Schoharie County, thank you."

The funding secured by Stefanik for the bridge replacement project is expected to address critical infrastructure needs in Schoharie County and ensure the continued safety and efficiency of transportation in the region.
