Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has successfully secured $1.5 million in funding for improvements to the Richfield Springs Fire Station. The funding will be utilized to construct a new fire station to replace the deteriorating current facility. Stefanik expressed the importance of this funding, stating, "This funding would be used to construct a new fire station as the current station is deteriorating. Replacing this essential facility is critical to public health and safety."

Richfield Springs Mayor Rick Spencer also expressed his gratitude for the grant, emphasizing the significant impact it will have on the community. Spencer stated, "This grant has such meaning to so many people and will positively impact people in our village and surrounding townships that are covered by our dedicated volunteers that provide us with fire and EMS protection." He highlighted the challenges faced by the current station, including the inability to house all necessary equipment and the need to store the ladder truck nearly a mile away.

The Mayor further elaborated on the benefits of the funding, explaining that it will enable the village to create a safer and more energy-efficient facility. This improvement will allow for better response times, enhanced training facilities, and overall increased safety for the community. Additionally, the new station will provide space for fundraising activities and accommodate various volunteer organizations that currently lack a meeting place, such as the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Youth Sports, and senior citizens groups.
