The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) has initiated an investigation into the death of Nadine Osuch. The incident occurred on July 15, 2025, in Caledonia, Livingston County, involving an off-duty New York State Park Police officer.

Ms. Osuch was struck while crossing Main Street by the officer driving his personal vehicle northbound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Under New York State Executive Law Section 70-b, OSI evaluates incidents where a police or peace officer might have caused a death through action or inaction. This applies whether the officer is on-duty or off-duty and regardless of whether the deceased was armed or unarmed, in custody, or incarcerated. If it appears that an officer may have caused the death, OSI conducts a thorough investigation.

These details are preliminary and may change.
