New York Attorney General Letitia James has expressed her approval following a U.S. District Court decision to uphold birthright citizenship in the United States.

“As we have repeatedly said, birthright citizenship is the law of the land. The Constitution is more than just mere words on parchment, it reflects our values. All children born on these shores are citizens bound to be respected under the law,” stated Attorney General James.

The legal challenge against the president’s executive order, which aimed to terminate birthright citizenship, was initiated by Attorney General James along with 18 other attorneys general on January 21. Judge Leo Sorokin has maintained his preliminary injunction preventing the implementation of this order across the country.
