Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced on Apr. 8 that Daniel Titta, a 25-year-old from Hoosick Falls, has been sentenced to four years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision following a guilty plea under the Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence Initiative (STRIVE) grant.

Titta pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Burglary in the second degree, classified as a class D violent felony. The case involved violating a full stay away order when Titta reportedly broke down a door, entered the property, and struck the victim with the door.

“As a second felony offender, Titta ignored and then violated a full stay away order,” said District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly.

The STRIVE Initiative aims to create coordinated community responses involving district attorneys’ offices, law enforcement agencies, and domestic violence service providers to address intimate partner violence. The initiative employs evidence-based strategies designed to strengthen support services so victims can reclaim their lives. In this case, collaboration occurred between the City of Troy Police Department, Rensselaer County Probation Office, and the District Attorney’s Office through funding provided by an annually awarded STRIVE grant for select cities across New York State.

Assistant District Attorney Nora Baker prosecuted the case on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office.
