Today, House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik released a statement in honor of Memorial Day. In her message, she paid tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom.

Stefanik highlighted the significance of representing New York’s 21st Congressional District, which she described as “the cradle of the American Revolution.” She noted the historical importance of locations such as Saratoga and Ticonderoga and acknowledged modern-day heroes from Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division. According to Stefanik, this division is “the most deployed division in the U.S. Army since 9/11.”

She reflected on the legacy of the 10th Mountain Division, mentioning its involvement in World War II and subsequent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. “This Memorial Day,” Stefanik stated, “my thoughts are with the Gold Star families and all those who have lost loved ones in service to our country.”

As an advocate for Fort Drum in Congress, Stefanik emphasized her commitment to ensuring that soldiers and their families receive necessary resources and support. She urged reflection on “the profound cost of our freedom” while pledging continued support for veterans, active-duty service members, and military families.

In closing, Stefanik expressed gratitude toward those who have served: “May God bless our fallen heroes, their families, and the United States of America.”
