Mayor Carmella R. Mantello announced on April 9 that a neighborhood meeting will be held to discuss planned improvements at Frear Park. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at 6:00 PM in the lobby of the Frear Park Ice Rink and is open to all residents.

The purpose of the meeting is to inform residents about upcoming upgrades designed to improve accessibility, recreation, and quality of life in one of Troy’s major public spaces.

Planned enhancements include what officials describe as the Capital Region’s first all-inclusive playground on North Lake Avenue, new accessible playground equipment near the ice rink, new tennis and pickleball courts, enhanced parking areas for better convenience and accessibility, as well as improvements to walking trails and landscaping throughout the park.

During the session, representatives from Mayor Mantello’s administration and engineers from Clough Harbour Associates are expected to present details about these projects. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback about future park amenities. A second community meeting focusing on plans for a permanent restaurant and event space at the former Park Pub site is also planned for May; further information will be provided soon.

“Frear Park is one of our city’s greatest assets, and these improvements represent a major investment in making it more accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone,” said Mayor Mantello. “This meeting is an opportunity for residents to hear firsthand about what’s ahead, ask questions, and be part of the conversation as we continue working to enhance this important community space.”

Mantello encourages all interested residents to attend so they can participate in shaping future developments at Frear Park.
