Paul Tonko, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 20th district since 2009, recently posted several updates on his official Twitter account addressing community engagement, federal agency oversight, and a farewell to a local radio personality.

On July 23, Tonko announced an upcoming event for constituents: “Next Wednesday, July 30th from 4 PM to 6 PM, my office is hosting Mobile Office Hours at the Glenville Branch Library! If you’re in the area and have questions about federal services or need assistance with a federal agency, I welcome you to stop by and speak with my staff!” This initiative aims to provide direct support for residents seeking help with federal matters.

The following day, July 24, Tonko criticized a Supreme Court decision affecting consumer protection agencies: “Once again, the Supreme Court is letting Trump and his administration play petty politics by steamrolling an independent agency set up by Congress to protect consumers. Without these experts, safety standards will fall by the wayside, causing untold harm.”

Later that same day, Tonko reflected on his experiences with Ian from WAMC Radio: “I always enjoyed chatting with Ian on Congressional Corner at @WAMCRadio, where he played an integral role in delivering the high-quality programming that residents across our region rely on every day. Good luck in your next chapter, Ian!”

Tonko has represented New York’s 20th district in Congress since replacing Michael McNulty in 2009. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1983 to 2007. Born in Amsterdam, New York in 1949 and currently residing there at age 73, Tonko graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1971.
