He remarked that while they claim to fight for lower costs for working families, their budget actually benefits the wealthy at the expense of essential services. Paul Tonko has been actively involved in politics since serving in the New York State Assembly from 1983 until he joined Congress in 2009. Born in Amsterdam, New York in 1949 and currently residing there, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson University.
