Paul Tonko, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 20th district, highlighted the role of community health centers and promoted local events and resources in a series of posts on social media this week.
On August 6, Tonko emphasized the importance of community health centers in his region, stating: “Community Health Centers have long served as pillars of our Capital Region community, providing top-notch care to all patients regardless of their income or immigration status. That’s why together, we must keep up the fight to secure a strong future for community-based care.”
Later that day, he shared his participation in neighborhood gatherings by posting: “Great to be with so many members of our community last night at National Night Out celebrations in Albany and Niskayuna! I’m proud to support these events that help promote trust, foster partnerships, and build strong community ties here in our Capital Region and beyond.” The National Night Out is an annual event aimed at strengthening relationships between residents and law enforcement.
On August 7, Tonko announced an upcoming informational session: “My office is hosting a Know Your Rights informational webinar on Tuesday, August 12th at 6PM. The event will be streamed LIVE at https://t.co/r3cmsIhNvO, after which a recording will be available on my Facebook and YouTube page. See below for more details.”
Tonko has represented New York’s 20th District since 2009 after succeeding Michael McNulty. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1983 to 2007. Born in Amsterdam, New York in 1949 and currently residing there at age 73, Tonko holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson University.
