Today in Washington, D.C., House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik announced her pivotal role in the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” This bill is seen as a significant step for President Trump’s America First agenda.
Stefanik stated, “Today, I was proud to be the deciding vote to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, a historic victory for New Yorkers and President Trump’s America First agenda.” She highlighted that over 77 million Americans supported House Republicans and President Trump with a mandate focusing on tax cuts, border security, energy independence, and promoting peace through strength.
The legislation contains several provisions aimed at benefiting New York families. Stefanik emphasized her collaboration with fellow New York Republicans to secure substantial tax relief by raising the State and Local Tax cap by 300%. She criticized Governor Kathy Hochul’s policies, which she claims impose a heavy tax burden on hardworking families.
Among other measures in the bill are delivering what is described as the largest tax cut in American history, eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, protecting Medicaid by removing 1.4 million undocumented immigrants from eligibility, and making permanent changes to border security initially implemented under President Trump. Additionally, it includes modernizing air traffic control systems and ending taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgeries for minors.
The bill also proposes expanding ICE detention facilities with tens of billions of dollars allocated for this purpose and hiring at least 10,000 new ICE agents. Furthermore, it includes $25 billion for a missile defense shield dubbed “President Trump’s Golden Dome.”
There are provisions targeting universities with large endowments by increasing their tax rates and reversing environmental mandates set during Joe Biden’s presidency regarding electric vehicles and fuel standards.
Stefanik concluded her statement by urging the Senate to act swiftly: “I urge the Senate to immediately pass our historic legislation to enact the One Big Beautiful Bill and ring in the Golden Age of America.”
