In a recent interview on 77 WABC radio, House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik addressed the terror attack in Boulder and the issue of antisemitism in higher education. Stefanik criticized what she perceives as a lack of action against antisemitism by “the radical left” and expressed concern over an incident involving a pro-Palestinian, pro-Hamas individual allegedly attacking pro-Israel advocates in Boulder.
Stefanik emphasized the need for strong policies against antisemitism and violence, highlighting her efforts to combat these issues on college campuses. She noted, “We need to have a zero-tolerance policy in this country when it comes to antisemitism or any violent targeting of any American.”
The discussion also touched upon her legislative work, such as the bipartisan “Never Again Holocaust Education Act,” which aims to provide grants for Holocaust education in schools. Stefanik underscored the importance of teaching students about the Holocaust’s horrors.
Regarding antisemitism in higher education, Stefanik supported actions taken by former President Trump to defund schools that do not align with US taxpayer values. She criticized elite universities for accepting foreign donations and admitting foreign students at the expense of American students. Stefanik remarked on her own experience at Harvard, saying it has become “unrecognizable” due to its current practices.
Stefanik highlighted concerns about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, tenure issues among professors, and increasing enrollment shifts from Ivy League institutions to other universities like those in Florida and Vanderbilt.
