House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik has issued a statement in recognition of National Police Week. She expressed her gratitude towards police officers, particularly those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and those who continue to serve.

“This National Police Week, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we express our deepest gratitude to those who continue to serve and protect our communities every day in New York,” said Stefanik.

She extended her thanks specifically to law enforcement officers from Upstate New York, the North Country, as well as across the state and nation. “Your courage, service, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed. I will continue to fight for policies that put the safety of our communities first and ensure you have the tools and support needed to do your job.”

Stefanik emphasized the importance of supporting law enforcement officers amid what she described as “dangerous anti-police rhetoric” from some political factions. “Our law enforcement officers are the backbone of our safety and security, and it’s our duty to stand by them,” she stated. “While the Far Left continues pushing dangerous anti-police rhetoric and policies, we must ensure that our heroes in uniform have the support, resources, and respect they deserve. Their selfless dedication ensures that law-abiding citizens can live in peace.”
