Paul Tonko, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 20th district, recently shared his thoughts and upcoming plans on social media. His posts included expressions of grief over recent tragic events and announcements about community engagement opportunities.
On June 14, 2025, Paul Tonko expressed his sorrow regarding a violent incident involving Minnesota State lawmakers. In his post, he stated: “Sickened & heartbroken by the shootings of Minnesota State lawmakers Melissa Hortman, John Hoffman & their spouses that has caused the death of Melissa and her husband, Mark. Praying for their loved ones & communities devastated by this horrific violence.”
Two days later, on June 16, 2025, Tonko reminded his constituents about an upcoming Town Hall event he was hosting at Hudson Valley Community College. He wrote: “REMINDER: I’m hosting a Town Hall event TONIGHT at the McDonough Sports Complex at Hudson Valley Community College to help you make your voice heard. Doors open at 4:30 PM and the event will begin at 6:00 PM.” He encouraged attendees to reserve their spots in advance.
Additionally, Paul Tonko informed those unable to attend in person that they could still participate virtually. In another tweet from June 16, he stated: “If you’re unable to join us in person, you can also tune in and view the event LIVE with real-time closed captions on my YouTube channel.”
