City of Troy, NY issued the following announcement on June 2.

Dear residents, neighbors, and businesses,

Today, Governor Cuomo announced the Capital Region will enter Phase 2 of reopening tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3rd, under the New York Forward plan.

The below industries qualify to reopen under Phase 2:

  • Real Estate
  • Essential and Phase II In-Store Retail
  • Vehicle Sales, Leases, and Rentals
  • Commercial Building Management
  • Hair Salons & Barbershops
Additional information on Phase 1 & 2 guidelines, and specifics for each industry allowed to reopen under this phase, are available at https://forward.ny.gov/phase-two-industries

Thank you to everyone who has worn a mask, practiced social distancing, and followed health protocols during this pandemic. Your cooperation has been critical in reducing the spread of infection and moving our region toward Phase 2.

Reminders for Businesses Reopening Under Phase 1 & 2:

  • Each re-opening business must develop a written Safety Plan outlining how its workplace will prevent the spread of COVID-19. This plan does not need to be submitted to a state agency for approval but must be retained on the premises of the business and must made available to the New York State Department of Health (DOH) or local health or safety authorities in the event of an inspection. • Individuals who would return to work under Phase 1 & 2 qualify for coronavirus testing under state guidelines. Testing locations have been established across the Capital Region, including in the City of Troy. Find a test site near you >>
Business owners should refer to New York State’s industry-specific guidance for more information on how to safely operate. For a list of regions and sectors that are authorized to re-open, as well as detailed guidance for each sector, please visit http://forward.ny.gov

While we are eager to reopen the local economy, it must be conducted in a safe, responsible manner that protects public health and reduces potential virus transmission. We are working closely with our merchants, small businesses, restaurants, and commercial associations in preparation for further reopening phases under the NY-Forward plan.

Additional information and resources for businesses reopening under NY-Forward are available from the Downtown Troy BID and Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Public safety remains our primary concern, and we will continue to share guidance from the regional control room and state health experts to achieve this objective.

Please continue to support our shops, boutiques, breweries, and restaurants. Many are still hurting due to the COVID pandemic. We’ve established a webpage – www.troyny.gov/shoplocal – with links to local business listings.

Additionally, we have established a resource page with information on how we’re responding to the coronavirus in Troy. We encourage you to check daily for information on reopening, service changes, and guidance from health experts.

Thank you, and be well.
