City of Troy, NY issued the following announcement on July 7.
City officials today announced neighborhood cooling stations have been activated beginning today, Tuesday, July 7. Cooling stations will be provided by the Troy Fire Department at the following locations from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. through Friday, July 10:
Lansingburgh
Intersection of 109th Street and 8th Avenue
(Adjacent to Rensselaer Park Elementary)
Little Italy
5th Avenue, Liberty and Hill Streets
(Little Italy Market Place)
North Central
7th Avenue, between Swift Street and Park Avenue
(Adjacent to Troy Central Little League)
South Troy
3rd Street and Canal Avenue
(Canal Street Park)
Cooling stations will be available dependent on weather conditions. The city will continue to monitor local weather forecasts and deploy cooling stations as needed. Residents are encouraged to watch for updates on the City’s social media channels (see below).
City-operated splash pads are open at various city parks, including Frear Park, Knickerbacker Park, and Prospect Park from sunrise to sunset. The splash pad at Riverfront Park is open from 10:00am – 8:00pm. For more info, visit the Parks & Recreation webpage.
Additional splash pads are available at Troy Housing Authority locations, including Phelan Court, Fallon Apartments, Griswold Heights, and the Taylor Apartments.
Mayor Madden said, “This week’s expected warm and humid weather is an important reminder for residents to take precautions to stay safe this summer. Drink water to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned spaces, and limit your outdoor activities during the warmest times of the day. Remember to check on neighbors, relatives, and those who may be most vulnerable during periods of elevated temperatures. Additionally, we all must continue to practice responsible behaviors to prevent COVID transmission, including wearing a mask in public.”

Health Precautions
Visitors should practice social distancing (maintaining 6 feet distance from other people), and avoid large gatherings of 25 people or more. Splash pad facilities and cooling station locations are not actively monitored. Guests should use best judgment when visiting these locations. Parents are reminded to closely watch their children.
Use of a mask or face covering is required in public. However, please do not wear a face covering when in the water. Cloth face coverings can cause breathing difficulties when wet.
