City of Troy, NY issued the following announcement on December 18.
TROY, NY – Mayor Patrick Madden has issued an update on the City’s snow cleanup and removal operations following a record-breaking snow storm that delivered significant snowfall across Troy and the greater Capital Region. City crews, contractors, and equipment have been deployed across the city for cleanup and removal efforts following a record-breaking snow storm that dropped over 18 inches on the Collar City.
Mayor Madden said, “Cooperation from residents is critical to ensuring a successful cleanup after this week’s snow storm. I urge residents to relocate their cars to driveways or City-owned lots and garages to help clear streets for plow vehicles to operate. Crews and contractors are working non-stop to clear streets of snow and ice. I want to thank our Public Works and Public Utilities staff, drivers, and heavy vehicle operators who have worked tirelessly since the storm began Wednesday night. This is an all-hands-on-deck operation, and I thank our residents, families and businesses for their patience while cleanup work continues.”
Snow removal operations remain underway in South Troy and Lansingburgh, and will continue into Saturday morning. Residents can expect large snow removal vehicles and dump trucks assisting in snow removal efforts across the City. Additional snow removal operations are being assessed for side streets. Residents should observe any additional posted parking restrictions in their neighborhood.
A Snow Emergency remains in effect for the City of Troy. Effective 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 18th, vehicles must be parked on the ODD side of designated snow emergency streets. Vehicles in violation of parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed, both at the owner’s expense.
Additional snow removal operations are also scheduled for downtown Troy on Friday (River, 1st, and 2nd) from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and Saturday (3rd, 4th, and 5th Avenues) from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Residents should observe posted parking restrictions and road closures.
Residents are urged to move vehicles into driveways (where available) or City-owned lots & garages to help keep streets clear for plow vehicles. Vehicles left parked on historically narrow roads can limit the effectiveness of snow cleanup operations. Cooperation from the public will help ensure a quick, effective cleanup effort.
Property owners are reminded to clear sidewalks and curb ramps of snow and ice. Code Enforcement is issuing notices and fines for failure to comply. Please help keep our community accessible to everyone this winter.

Overnight and Off-Street Parking
During a snow emergency, residents are encouraged to use public parking lots in their neighborhood. Vehicles can be parked through the weekend at the following locations:
Y Lot (1st Street)
5th Avenue Parking Garage
State Street Parking Garage
5th Avenue & Congress Street Lot
Front Street Lot
Green Island Lot
Permitted vehicles can utilize these lots during normal weekday hours of operation.

Fire Chief Eric McMahon is reminding Troy residents & families to clear snow from fire hydrants near their home or business.
Help save local emergency personnel valuable time when responding to possible fire emergencies in your neighborhood. Clear all snow three (3) feet around the entire hydrant to ensure quick access for fire personnel.
