Juveniles with Ongoing Felony Cases in Family Court Arrested Again Saturday for Stealing Woman’s Car at Gunpoint

Two 15-year-old Albany residents and a 16-year-old from Menands who threatened a woman with a loaded handgun before stealing her car Saturday night on Benson Street have been arrested.

On Saturday, November 26, 2022 around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to Benson Street near Partridge Street for reports of a robbery. Information received at the time of the call was that three juvenile aged black males had approached the victim while armed with a handgun and demanded her phone and car keys. The victim complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s car.

No injuries were reported during the robbery.

Around 6:40 p.m., Albany police officers observed the stolen vehicle traveling on Northern Boulevard in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop for the officers and continued to drive north on Northern Boulevard to the area of the Interstate 90 entrance where the vehicle was involved in a single car motor vehicle crash.

All three occupants, whose names won’t be released due to their age, were taken into custody. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

A loaded .40 caliber handgun was also recovered by officers during the investigation.

All three were each charged with Robbery 1st, Robbery 2nd, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.

All three are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Albany County Family Court.
