Man Found with Loaded Handgun Following Henry Johnson Boulevard Traffic Stop
A driver and his passenger were both taken into custody following a traffic stop Thursday afternoon on Henry Johnson Boulevard.
On Thursday, December 8, 2022 around 2:10 p.m., a traffic investigator from the Albany Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit observed a vehicle on Henry Johnson Boulevard near Clinton Avenue with license plates that were previously reported stolen to the Albany Police Department and did not belong on the vehicle. The traffic investigator stopped the vehicle near the intersection and began to conduct an investigation.
During the stop, it was determined that the driver, Bishop Fraser, 19, of Schenectady was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, with stolen plates and without insurance. He was taken into custody.
The front seat passenger, Tahmeer NeSmith, 21, of Albany was also found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun which he had concealed in his pants during the investigation and was taken into custody.
Fraser was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th and Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 3rd. He was also cited for numerous violations under the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
NeSmith was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
Both men are scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
