Albany Police Department - Albany Police Respond to Friday Morning Bank Robberies

Albany Police Respond to Friday Morning Bank Robberies

Albany police officers responded to two separate bank robberies Friday morning and were able to quickly make arrests in one of the robberies and begin an investigation into the other.

On Friday, December 9, 2022 around 9:20 a.m., officers responded to SEFCU, located at 388 Clinton Avenue for reports of a robbery. Upon arrival, an employee told officers that an unknown suspect approached the counter, passed a note implying they had a weapon, and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled the bank with an underdetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark colored clothing.

At this time the investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039.

Approximately 35 minutes later, officers responded to a separate bank robbery at Key Bank located at 561 New Scotland Avenue. Upon arrival there, an employee told officers that a male suspect approached the counter and demanded money while implying he had a weapon. The suspect also jumped over the counter during the commission of the robbery and began to take money from the drawers and place it in a bag before running from the bank.

Shortly after the call, patrol officers observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Clinton Avenue and North Swan Street believed to be involved in the robbery and initiated a traffic stop. Two men inside the car immediately began to run on foot but were quickly apprehended by officers.

Peter Addison, 36, of Albany and Jahmar Daniels, 36, of Troy were both subsequently identified as suspects in the Key Bank robbery and taken into custody.

Addison and Daniels have each been charged with one count of Robbery 1st.

Both were arraigned Friday in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
