5.4% of Rensselaer County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Rensselaer County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.4% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 4,605 people out of the 161,125 living in Rensselaer County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Rensselaer County has increased compared to the 5.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Rensselaer County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.2%.

Of the 81,431 people who had a job during that time, 293 were employed in the Armed Forces and 81,138 belonged to the civilian labor force.
