Paul Tonko, a seasoned Congressman representing New York's 20th district, used social media to address several issues impacting his constituents. Having served in the U.S. Congress since 2009 after succeeding Michael McNulty, Tonko's recent posts focused on chronic kidney disease awareness, education funding, and a sharp commentary on well-known political figures.

On March 26, 2025, Paul Tonko brought attention to the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in the United States on social media, encourageing individuals to prioritize their kidney health. As he stated, "Did you know that 15% of U.S. adults – 35.5 million people – are estimated to have chronic kidney disease (CKD)?  This #NationalKidneyMonth, learn how to take charge of your kidney health with tips from @NIDDKgov!".

Later that day, on March 26, 2025, Tonko addressed a proposed plan by Elon Musk and Donald Trump regarding the Department of Education. He criticized their proposal, stating that it could lead to significant funding cuts to education in his region: "Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s plan to dismantle the Department of Education and eliminate Title I grants would steal $32.5 million from children across our Capital Region – and potentially force the firing of nearly 500 local teachers – all to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires.".

The following day, on March 27, 2025, Tonko directed a message to former President Donald Trump through social media, seemingly referring to a management or staffing decision. He succinctly posted: "Hey @realDonaldTrump, have you forgotten how to do this? Fire Hegseth and Waltz." .
