Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has spoken out against the Biden Administration's decision to decrease the amount of milk available to families enrolled in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). In a statement, Stefanik expressed her concerns about the impact of this ruling on the health of WIC participants, stating, "Joe Biden’s WIC restrictions will cause significant negative effects on the health of babies, mothers, and families participating in WIC to access nutritious milk products." She further criticized the new rule, attributing it to the challenges families are facing with rising prices, and emphasized the importance of access to healthy milk products for new mothers and children.

Stefanik had previously taken action on this issue by leading a bipartisan letter to United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack in March 2023, urging him to oppose the proposed rule that would limit the availability of milk for WIC families. The Congresswoman highlighted the efforts of dairy farmers in Upstate New York and the North Country in providing nutrient-rich milk to communities and pledged to continue advocating for access to essential dairy products for WIC participants.
