Congresswoman Elise Stefanik recently addressed the House of Representatives, advocating for her bill titled the Strengthening America’s Turning Point Act. This legislation aims to rename Saratoga National Historical Park to Saratoga National Battlefield Park.

During her remarks, Stefanik highlighted the historical significance of Upstate New York and the North Country, areas she described as "the cradle of the American Revolution." She emphasized the importance of preserving these historic sites, noting their role in shaping the nation's history.

"The Battles of Saratoga were the most significant turning point and one of the most decisive American battles of the American Revolution," said Stefanik. She explained that renaming the park would more accurately reflect its historical importance and highlight the crucial military engagements that occurred there.

Stefanik pointed out that when the site became a national park in 1938, it was named Saratoga National Historical Park, omitting 'battlefield' from its title. The proposed change has received unanimous support from the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.

Stefanik expressed gratitude to Chair Bruce Westerman and Subcommittee Chair Tom Tiffany for their collaboration in preserving battlefields and historic sites. She urged her colleagues to support the bill and concluded by yielding back her time on the floor.
