Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has called on Harvard University to hold accountable those responsible for antisemitic attacks on a Jewish student, following an incident at Harvard Business School in October 2023. The attack occurred during a Palestine Solidarity Committee event, where the victim was physically assaulted and harassed by a group of students.
According to documents obtained by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, Harvard initiated an independent investigation led by the law firm of Jenner & Block following the incident. The victim's attorneys provided video evidence of the assault during a meeting with the investigating law firm.
It has been revealed that local prosecutors are currently in discussions regarding court dates for two Harvard students involved in the assault. One of the assailants, a Harvard Divinity School graduate student, is set to graduate in May 2024, despite the delay in the legal proceedings.
In response to the situation, Congresswoman Stefanik expressed her discontent with the handling of the case, stating, "Justice for this incident should have been served quickly, and the delay of justice that specifically allows an antisemitic student to graduate is an affront to accountability and demonstrates the cultural rot of Harvard University’s leadership that has allowed antisemitism to continue."
