Albany County Department of Public Works has announced a temporary closure of the section of the Albany County Rail Trail near the Bender Melon Farm Preserve Bridge in New Scotland. The closure is scheduled to take place from Monday, April 22 through Tuesday, April 30. According to the department, the closure is necessary as the bridge is being rehabilitated. The affected area is located between Hilton Road and Upper Font Grove Road.
During the rehabilitation work, the trail will be closed on weekdays from 7 am to 3:30 pm. Following the full closure, partial closures of the Rail Trail are anticipated to continue until May 17. Albany County Department of Public Works expressed gratitude in advance for the public's patience and understanding during this essential project.
This temporary closure aims to ensure the safety and longevity of the Bender Melon Farm Preserve Bridge and maintain the overall quality of the Albany County Rail Trail.
