House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik appeared on Fox News' America Reports to address the humanitarian and national security crises at U.S. borders, attributing these issues to the policies of Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she referred to as the "open border czar." Stefanik advocated for a return to former President Donald Trump's border policies.

During the interview, Stefanik emphasized the impact of what she described as wide-open borders under Harris's oversight. "The border and the wide open border under Kamala Harris’ role as the open border czar is one of the top two issues no matter what district," said Stefanik. She further stated that Harris would be held accountable for her record, claiming that millions of illegal immigrants have entered the country during her tenure.

Stefanik highlighted recent news reports indicating nearly 300,000 minors have been lost due to what she called failures by President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris. "This is a humanitarian crisis as well as a national security crisis," she said, noting that this issue extends beyond just the Southern Border to include areas like New York's Swanton Sector of the Northern Border.

Citing statistics from The New York Times, Stefanik pointed out an increase in unaccounted minors over a year and a half period. She also provided examples from Upstate New York involving crimes committed by individuals who had entered illegally.

Comparing current policies with those under Trump’s administration, Stefanik praised Trump’s approach. "President Trump is leaning into his very successful record, leading to the most secure border in modern history," she remarked. She underscored House Republicans' efforts in passing stringent border security measures and criticized Democrats for distancing themselves from discussing these issues.

Stefanik concluded by asserting that returning to Trump's policies would resolve many of these problems: "We need to make sure we return to those effective border policies."
