Rep. Elise Stefanik issued a statement on August 27, 2024, addressing recent actions by Special Counsel Jack Smith. In her remarks, Stefanik criticized Smith's efforts to modify his case against former President Donald Trump.
"Corrupt Jack Smith is desperately trying to revise his sham, unconstitutional witch hunt against President Trump to salvage his reputation and the Kamala Harris campaign," Stefanik stated. She supported Judge Aileen Cannon's decision to dismiss the case, accusing the Biden-Harris Department of Justice of undermining constitutional principles through their appointment of Smith as special counsel.
Stefanik further claimed that despite facing setbacks, Smith is attempting to change the details of his case. "After failing and facing a humiliating defeat, Smith is now attempting to alter the details of his case, yet the underlying facts remain and the American people know this is desperate, blatant election interference."
