Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has joined as a cosponsor of a resolution condemning the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists. The resolution marks the one-year anniversary of the attack.
Stefanik expressed her firm stance against Hamas, stating, "Hamas is a violent terrorist organization that must be wiped off the face of the earth. On the anniversary of the bloodiest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust, I stand resolutely beside the Jewish and Israeli people. We cannot rest until every hostage is brought home to their families. I will always work to ensure the safety and freedom of the only democracy in the Middle East and our most precious ally Israel as she fights for her very existence against Iranian-backed terrorists."
In December 2023, Stefanik was active in questioning university presidents from Harvard, MIT, and UPenn regarding their response to antisemitism on campuses. She had previously sent a letter to former Harvard President Claudine Gay criticizing student organizations blaming Israel for attacks by Hamas.
Stefanik addressed members of the Israeli Knesset in May 2024, emphasizing America's support for Israel and advocating for Jewish students' protection on U.S. college campuses. In July 2024, she supported a letter to President Joe Biden backing Israel's right to self-defense amid rising threats from Hezbollah.
She has been involved in various legislative efforts within Congress aimed at opposing antisemitism and supporting Israel's security. These include acts like "No ICBMs or Drones for Iran Act of 2023," "Stand With Israel Act," and "Israel Security Assistance Support Act," among others.
