Paul Tonko, a U.S. Congressman representing New York's 20th district, has expressed concerns over recent legislative priorities and economic issues through a series of tweets. Serving in Congress since 2009 after replacing Michael McNulty, Tonko has been vocal about various political matters.

On November 19, 2024, Tonko criticized House Republicans for their legislative focus. He stated that "Rather than advancing a federal budget, passing a Farm Bill, or working to lower costs for Americans, House Republicans first legislative priority is going after the trans community. This is a shameful, mean-spirited distraction that does nothing to make Americans' lives better."

On November 20, 2024, he addressed healthcare policies linked to Project 2025. In his tweet, he mentioned that "Straight from Project 2025 - Republicans are already planning to rip health care away from millions in order to fund more tax cuts for Trump's billionaire buddies. That's just wrong. I will always fight to protect your healthcare."

The following day on November 21, 2024, Tonko highlighted economic disparities affecting Americans. He shared data indicating financial struggles faced by many citizens: "Recent data shows that more than one quarter of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Meanwhile, corporate greed and wealth disparity are at an all-time high. Congress must get to work to lower prices for families while ensuring the wealthiest pay their fair share."
