IRA funding bolsters this $50 million investment to employ skilled union workers for wind manufacturing
WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Paul D. Tonko released a statement cheering the announcement this morning from GE that it will invest $50 million at their GE Vernova facility in Schenectady, NY. The site will be used to assemble key components for constructing wind turbines and will add an estimated 200 new full-time positions to the region. Tonko’s statement reads as follows:
“The addition of 200 good-paying clean energy jobs in Schenectady further bolsters the Capital Region’s reputation as an innovation and high-tech hub. GE’s announcement is the direct result of the investments that President Biden and Democrats in Congress have made with the Inflation Reduction Act. By investing in American workers and domestic supply chains, we can continue to create the jobs of the future while cementing America’s—and the Capital Region’s—leadership in the fight against climate change.”
