Paul Tonko, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York's 20th district, has shared his views on several political issues through recent tweets. These posts reflect his stance on current legislative matters and notable public figures.

On March 13, 2025, Paul Tonko urged Senate Democrats to reject a Republican funding bill that he described as "dirty." He advocated for passing a clean four-week funding plan instead, which would allow Congress more time to reach a budget agreement that aligns with the needs of the American people. "Senate Democrats must hold firm in rejecting the dirty Republican funding bill and instead work to pass a clean 4-week funding plan that provides time for Congress to reach a budget agreement that actually meets the needs of the American people."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Tonko criticized Elon Musk for allegedly causing parts of the government to shut down in pursuit of tax cuts for billionaires. He warned against enabling Musk further by allowing him to target essential social programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. "Elon Musk is already forcing vast swaths of our government to shut down in pursuit of massive tax cuts for himself and other billionaires. We cannot further enable him with a green light to go after Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security."

Later that day, Tonko expressed disapproval towards President Trump and Lee Zeldin for their actions favoring polluters and Big Oil. He argued that such policies harm public health by worsening air and water quality without contributing positively to economic growth. "Shame on President Trump and Lee Zeldin. As they celebrate giveaways to polluters and Big Oil, they condemn our kids to breathe dirtier air and drink polluted water. This will not boost our economy. It will make our communities weaker, sicker, and poorer."
