Fran Spreer Albert is a prominent figure in the healthcare industry, holding the positions of senior executive vice president, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer for the Albany Med Health System. Her office is adorned with over a hundred photos capturing family, friends, and colleagues, reflecting her values of love and joy.

Spreer Albert's career began at KPMG after earning an accounting degree from the University at Albany in 1988. She joined Albany Medical Center in 2000 as vice president of finance and climbed to her current roles by 2018. Her responsibilities include overseeing financial reporting, payroll, budgeting, human resources, security, engineering and construction, energy management, maintenance, and environmental services.

Reflecting on her journey into healthcare leadership—a field she was drawn to for its mission—Spreer Albert said: “I was always attracted to health care because of the mission and the type of work they do.” She emphasized Albany Medical Center's role as both a provider of specialized care and an economic driver.

Her ascent has inspired many women who reached out to express pride in her achievements. “It was very moving,” she said about receiving such feedback. This spring, UAlbany will honor her with the 2025 Stoneman Distinguished Alumni award.

Family plays a significant role in Spreer Albert’s life. Her father influenced her career path by setting high standards for his children. Outside work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and attending live performances.
