Albany mayor reaffirms commitment to tackling illegal vehicle operations

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan issued a statement on May 23, 2024, addressing the city's response to a recent incident involving illegal vehicles.

"Chief Hawkins and I said immediately after this incident that we were committed to utilizing every resource at our disposal - local, county, state, and federal - to find the suspect, arrest them, and bring them to justice," stated Mayor Sheehan. "As well as further enforce the City's prohibition against these illegal vehicles operating on our streets, and we have done just that."

Mayor Sheehan expressed her gratitude towards Chief Hawkins and his team for their efforts in ensuring public safety. "I sincerely appreciate Chief Hawkins, his command staff, and the entire department for their commitment to keeping our residents and visitors safe and seeking justice for Alexa."
