He stated, "Today’s visit marked my 84th delivery through the Surplus Books program, which I’ve been proud to utilize to support schools, libraries, and nonprofits across our region." On November 26, 2024, Tonko turned his attention to local businesses as he visited Tara Kitchen in Guilderland. He tweeted about this experience saying, "As we approach #SmallBusinessSaturday, I was proud to stop by Tara Kitchen in Guilderland this morning to meet with owner Aneesa Waheed and learn more about this beloved local favorite serving delicious Moroccan comfort food at three locations across our Capital Region!"
