Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik voted to pass the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, which she introduced with Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX). The legislation aims to sanction International Criminal Court (ICC) officials who investigate or prosecute the United States and its allies, including Israel.

“I am proud to support the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act to stop the International Criminal Court’s baseless and illegal attempts to undermine our precious ally Israel as she fights for her very existence against Iranian-backed terrorists,” said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. “The ICC chose the wrong side of history when they issued a warrant for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and other Israeli Defense officials. As promised, these corrupt ICC bureaucrats will be held accountable for punishing our greatest ally Israel in her hour of need.”

In May 2024, Congresswoman Stefanik joined Congressman Chip Roy in introducing the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act following reports that the ICC planned to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and other senior officials of the Israel Defence Forces.

Stefanik has consistently held the ICC accountable and warned they would face consequences if they issued arrest warrants. In April 2024, Stefanik co-led a letter with Representatives D’Esposito (R-NY) and Molinaro (R-NY), demanding Joe Biden and Secretary Blinken strongly support Israel and oppose efforts by the ICC to issue warrants against key Israeli leadership and defense officials.
