The Albany County Department of Public Works has announced that ongoing construction will impact County Routes 53 (South Albany Rd.) and 54 (Bell Crossing Rd.) in the Town of Bethlehem. The work, part of the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project, is scheduled to begin on July 8 and continue through September 2024.
County Route 54 will be closed to traffic from Monday, July 8 through August 23, 2024, between CR 201 (Old Quarry Road) and the CSX Railroad building. Traffic will be detoured via CR 102 and Route 396. Access to Mac-Son Industrial Services will remain available during this period.
Following the completion of work on County Route 54, construction will proceed in stages along County Route 53 to a point south of Blue Diamond Road. This phase will involve lane closures and alternating one-way traffic, with an expected completion date in late September. The contractor will coordinate with property owners to ensure access is maintained.
For any inquiries, residents are encouraged to contact the Albany County Department of Public Works at 518-765-2055.
Albany County appreciates the public's patience during this significant project.
