The City of Albany has reactivated SeeClickFix, an online platform for reporting non-emergency issues such as potholes and code violations. This move follows the passing of Local Law M of 2024, which amended the city's "prior written notice" law to protect taxpayers from potential financial liabilities.
The Common Council held an emergency meeting on December 23, 2024, led by Council Majority Leader Ginnie Farrell and Councilmember Deborah Zamer. Mayor Kathy Sheehan signed the legislation into law after a public hearing on December 30, 2024.
Mayor Sheehan stated, “I commend Council Majority Leader Farrell and Councilmember Zamer for their quick action and leadership to implement the legislative change that allows the City to protect our taxpayers and reactivate SeeClickFix.” She emphasized that the temporary deactivation was not due to a lack of commitment but rather a measure to prevent financial risks from lawsuits.
Residents can report issues through SeeClickFix at https://seeclickfix.com/albany_2/report during business hours. Emergency matters should be reported via 911 or directly to relevant departments using provided contact numbers.
Sheehan encouraged residents and visitors to use SeeClickFix for reporting non-emergency issues so city officials can address them promptly. “I encourage all residents and visitors alike to continue utilizing SeeClickFix,” she said.
