Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik delivered remarks on the House Floor condemning Vice President Kamala Harris for her role as the "open border czar" under President Joe Biden's administration. Stefanik criticized Harris and Biden for what she described as a catastrophic border crisis resulting from their policies.

"I rise to condemn Vice President Kamala Harris for her failed and dangerous policies as Joe Biden's border czar that caused the most catastrophic border crisis in modern history," Stefanik stated. She emphasized that securing the borders is a top concern for Americans across various congressional districts.

Stefanik's resolution aims to hold Harris accountable for advancing what she termed "Far Left Democrats’ failed open border policies" and prioritizing illegal immigrants over American safety. She argued that every elected Democrat shares responsibility for the current border situation, alongside other issues such as inflation, violent crime, and global instability.

Highlighting recent statistics, Stefanik noted that U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported over 130,000 illegal immigrant encounters at the Southern Border in June alone. She also mentioned that 93 individuals on the terrorist watchlist were intercepted attempting to enter the U.S. illegally this fiscal year.

Stefanik pointed out similar issues at the Northern Border, particularly in the Swanton Sector of her district, citing historic surges in illegal crossings and national security concerns.

The congresswoman further criticized Harris' management of minors crossing the border, stating nearly 80,000 minors have been lost or left unaccounted for under her tenure. She linked these failures to violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants in Upstate New York.

Stefanik concluded by urging a return to former President Trump's border security policies and highlighted H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, passed by House Republicans as a solution to end what she called a catastrophic crisis caused by Biden and Harris' policies.

"The American people have had enough," Stefanik asserted. "Kamala Harris has failed in overseeing Americans’ safety by refusing to secure the border."
