Albany Medical Center is updating its visiting guidelines due to the presence of seasonal respiratory viruses. These temporary measures aim to limit virus transmission and protect patients and healthcare professionals.

The new guidelines will take effect on Monday, January 6. Changes include restricting visits by children under 12 years old and any visitor showing respiratory or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, rash, or diarrhea. Additionally, only two visitors will be allowed at a patient's bedside at any time.

The Albany Med Health System advises all visitors to wash their hands before entering and upon leaving a patient's room. Hand sanitizers are readily available at many hospital entrances and throughout the facilities, including near patient room doorways.

For more information on the complete visiting guidelines at Albany Medical Center and other system hospitals like Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls Hospital, and Saratoga Hospital, individuals are encouraged to visit the Visitation page.
