43 percent of applicants to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute were admitted for fall 2018

At the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 99 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 68 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Troy enrolled 7,895 students in fall 2018, including 6,628 in undergraduate and 1,267 in graduate programs, data shows. 2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

28 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York, and 56 percent are residents of other states. 16 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (50 percent) and Asian (14 percent).

The school admitted 43 percent of the 20,402 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 20 percent enrolled.
