Cost of college went up for all students at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York students paid $53,880 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,575 more than the $52,305 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 82 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,365 students received grants or scholarships totaling $42.1 million and 880 students took out student loans totaling more than $9.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (7,895), 5,409 students used grants or scholarships totaling $167.9 million, and 3,369 students took out $24.9 million in federal student loans.
