Man Wanted in September Burglary Caught Wednesday Stealing Packages from Neighbor’s Porch on Seminole Avenue

A 47-year-old Albany man who was wanted for stealing packages during a burglary that occurred back in September, was caught stealing packages from his neighbor’s porch Wednesday afternoon on Seminole Avenue and taken into custody.

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022 around 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a home on Seminole Avenue for reports of a larceny. Upon arrival, the victim told officers that she observed her neighbor walking onto her front porch and stealing packages that had just been delivered for her.

Officers went to the suspect’s residence where they eventually made contact with George Harrell who was identified as the suspect in the theft and taken into custody. Items taken during the larceny were also recovered.

Harrel was charged with one count of Petit Larceny for stealing the packages on Seminole Avenue.

In addition, Harrell was identified as the suspect in an ongoing burglary investigation stemming from a theft that occurred on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 on the 800 block of Western Avenue.

During that incident, Harrell entered the closed vestibule of a building and stole packages that had been delivered to the residents.

He was charged with one count of Burglary 3rd for his role in the September burglary.

Harrell was arraigned Wednesday and released to the supervision of probation.
