Assemblyman Scott Bendett (R,C-Sand Lake) has successfully secured $20,000 in legislative aid funding for the Kinderhook Memorial Library, as announced on January 30, 2024. The funding will be utilized for essential green energy upgrades at the library, particularly the installation of new heat pumps.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Assemblyman Bendett remarked, "I am very excited to see this installation completed." He further emphasized the importance of the library's commitment to sustainability, stating, "We need more libraries and community spaces like this one taking the initiative and leading by example."

Kinderhook Memorial Library Director, Matthew Pavloff, highlighted the significance of the funding, noting that the installation of heat pumps will eliminate the library's reliance on fuel oil, a crucial step towards achieving carbon-neutrality. Pavloff expressed gratitude for the support received from Assemblyman Bendett, stating, "It's heartening to see our priorities mirrored in our Legislature, and we are so grateful for this support from Assemblyman Bendett."

The green energy upgrades align with the library's goal of becoming a certified sustainable library under the "Sustainable Libraries Initiative" (SLI). This initiative encourages libraries to embrace sustainability in their missions, promoting environmental responsibility and community engagement. By embracing eco-friendly practices, the Kinderhook Memorial Library is poised to become an environmentally sound and socially equitable community hub.

In conclusion, the Kinderhook Memorial Library is paving the way for a sustainable future, with the recent legislative aid paving the path for a more eco-friendly and community-oriented space for residents to enjoy for years to come.
