Assemblyman Scott Bendett (R,C-Sand Lake) joined state and federal Minority representatives today to call for an independent investigation into New York state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The element that has always received the most scrutiny—then-Gov. Cuomo’s decision to keep COVID-positive patients in nursing homes—is the highlight of the desire for an independent inquiry.
"The decision to place COVID-positive patients in nursing homes under Cuomo's leadership demands scrutiny," said Bendett. He also expressed his appreciation for Congressman Marc Molinaro, stating, "Congressman Marc Molinaro has been a strong ally for the district, and I look forward to working with him once more."
Bendett urged his colleagues in both Albany and Washington to support the inquiry, emphasizing the importance of seeking justice and learning from the tragedy. He stated, "I urge the rest of my colleagues in both Albany and Washington to support this inquiry, ensuring justice and lessons learned from this tragedy." The Assemblyman concluded by highlighting the importance of closure for affected families, saying, "Families deserve closure."
