On Wednesday, Assemblyman Scott Bendett joined the Town of Sand Lake to commence the Sand Lake Improved Parks Project (SLIPP), marking the largest park enhancement initiative in the town's history. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Town of Sand Lake Walking Trails Park, attended by community members, local leaders, and supporters.
The project aims to introduce seven new soccer fields, a concession stand, a dog park, and a community forest with walking and hiking trails. SLIPP has been facilitated through support from Bendett's office, the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance, and Averill Park Youth Soccer. This transformative project is intended to boost recreational opportunities for local families and promote growth for youth sports programs.
"This is an exciting day for the Town of Sand Lake," said Bendett. "SLIPP will provide our youth with dedicated soccer fields and facilities and create a beautiful space for residents to connect with nature. This project represents what's possible when we invest in our parks and work together to strengthen our community."
