Paul Tonko, a U.S. Congressman representing New York's 20th district, shared several insights on legal rights and consumer protection through a series of tweets. These posts reflect his ongoing commitment to informing the public about their entitlements and safeguarding consumer interests.

On February 10, 2025, Paul Tonko tweeted about the importance of understanding legal safeguards. He encouraged individuals with questions regarding their rights to visit his "Know Your Rights" page for more information. "Knowledge is power. If you have questions about the legal safeguards to which you are entitled, visit my 'Know Your Rights' page to learn more."

In another tweet on the same day, Tonko addressed challenges faced by individuals in immigration custody or those fearing ICE raids. He emphasized the significance of being informed about legal protections in such situations: "No one should face these challenges alone. Whether you or someone you know has been taken into immigration custody, faces removal, or is anxious about the prospect of ICE raids in our region, understanding your legal protections can make a critical difference."

On February 11, 2025, Tonko highlighted the role of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in protecting consumers from unfair practices. He criticized efforts by former President Trump and his supporters to dismantle this agency: "CFPB serves a key role in saving Americans money—fighting junk fees and holding predatory companies accountable. Trump and his billionaire donors want to dismantle it and open the door for bad actors to rip off consumers without consequence. We won't stand for it."
